Blocked drain in Crawley? Here’s how we clear it.
Crawley sits on heavy clay, and the ground moves as it wets and dries. Over decades that can shift drain joints out of line. We clear the blockage first, then camera-survey the pipe so you know if it will come back.
- Kitchen, toilet and outside drains cleared by jetting and rodding
- CCTV camera survey, with the footage talked through on site
- Roots, fat and wipe build-up cut out
- Displaced and cracked joints repaired
- Commercial kitchen and unit drains cleared out of hours
Why Crawley drains block
Most of Crawley is built on Weald Clay. Clay shrinks in a dry summer and swells again in a wet winter, and drains laid in it move with it. On homes built in the 1950s and 1960s, that movement can open up joints in the original pipes. Once a joint has dropped, waste and roots catch on the edge, and the same drain blocks again and again.
The new town was planned with plenty of green space and street trees, and many are now mature. Their roots look for water, and a cracked drain is an easy source. A camera survey shows whether roots are inside the pipe.
Crawley gets its tap water from Southern Water for most of the town, but its sewers are run by Thames Water. Since October 2011, a drain that serves more than one property, or sits outside your boundary, has usually been the sewerage company’s responsibility. We find the blockage before we start, and if it is on Thames Water’s side we tell you, so you are not paying for their repair.
Manor Royal is a large business district, and the town centre has plenty of cafés and takeaways. We clear drains at business premises and food outlets overnight or early, so you can open on time.
