Boiler repairs across Crawley’s neighbourhoods
Some newer Crawley homes, including three-storey town houses, have a system boiler, an unvented hot water cylinder and a separate heating zone for each floor. If one floor is warm and another is cold, the cause is usually a zone valve or a thermostat, not the boiler itself. When you call, tell us how many floors the house has and which ones are cold.
Unvented cylinders run at mains pressure and rely on safety valves that must work properly. If you see water dripping from a pipe near the cylinder, or from a pipe through the outside wall, a valve may be letting by. That needs looking at soon, by someone qualified to work on unvented systems.
Older homes in the first neighbourhoods have often had several heating upgrades, and the controls do not always match. An old programmer wired to a newer boiler, or a wireless thermostat that has lost contact, can leave the heating on all night or off all day. Sorting out the wiring and controls is often cheaper than any boiler part.

Probably not. Homes with separate heating zones have a valve and a thermostat for each floor. If one sticks, that floor stays cold while the rest heats up. It is a common and fairly quick repair.
