Got a plumbing emergency in Hove? Pick your problem below.

Hove is home for OGB Sussex. Our office is at Stockwell Lodge Studios on Conway Street, so most of the town is a short drive away. We look after Regency flats near the seafront, Victorian houses in The Avenues, and family homes and bungalows up in Hangleton and West Blatchington. Call at any hour and our own team answers.

Two jobs we are often called out for in Hove are burst pipes in converted houses and drain blockages in Hove that back up into a basement or yard. Pick your problem below, or call 01273 044054.

What goes wrong in Hove homes

Hove was a separate borough until it joined Brighton under one council in 1997. It has kept its own character, with wide residential streets running down to the lawns on the seafront. For the people who answer our phones, these are familiar streets.

The housing changes as you head north. Near the sea there are tall stucco terraces and squares, most of them now flats. Further up, towards the A27, the streets are mostly inter-war and post-war houses, many with a loft tank, a cylinder and pipework that has been altered several times. Each brings its own kind of emergency. A basement flat, a top-floor conversion and a 1930s semi can all be on the same short walk.

In older systems, many emergencies start with something that has been failing quietly for years: a loft tank valve, a cistern fill valve, a radiator valve under a bay window. If water is running from a small pipe on the outside wall, deal with it before it turns into a ceiling leak. Our page on overflowing tanks in Hove explains what to check.

For a broken boiler, see our boiler repair service in neighbouring Brighton, and remember that a smell of gas means calling 0800 111 999 first. Further west, past Portslade and Southwick, our emergency plumbers in Worthing are the same team. Either way, the number to call is 01273 044054.
